4 Best Healthy Snacks

A pastry, chips, waffles… Forget those unhealthy snacks which not only make us gain weight and don’t provide anything useful to our body, but also waste our valuable energy. Namely, our body consumes high amount of vitamins and minerals in order to metabolize this type of “empty” food.   In addition, this kind of snack is one of the main culprits for the extra pounds since they contain high amount of calories which contribute to hunger because of the sudden rise and fall of the blood sugar. That is why we need to change these snacks for healthier ones. And which snacks are healthier?

  1. Healthy Snack: Bananas

Bananas not only taste amazing, but are also very healthy. They are good source of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, manganese, potassium and fibers. You can eat bananas with cereal for your breakfast, in smoothies or as a meal during lunch.

  1. Healthy Snack: Yogurt

Yogurt is a very healthy and versatile food that can be enjoyed alone or in various combinations with other foods. Yogurt contains proteins, potassium and calcium and it also contains probiotic bacteria that increase the body’s resistance and are responsible for healthy digestion. Unfortunately, not all yoghurts contain probiotics, so make sure to check the label if the product contains probiotics.

  1. Healthy Snack: Nuts

Nuts are known as one of the best plants source of protein and healthy fats. They are rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamin E and selenium. Researchers found that people who regularly consume nuts have lower risk of developing heart diseases. They contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega-3 fats) which are responsible for lowering LDL cholesterol and are known as “good fats”. Consume nuts in moderation because, for example 15 cashew nuts have 180 calories.

  1. Healthy Snack: Popcorn

Popcorn contains vitamin B, Vitamin E, magnesium and fibers. Standard cup of popcorn contains only 93 calories and less than 1.5g of fat. If possible, prepare popcorn yourself with as little fat as possible and especially with less salt. We recommend avoiding popcorn with flavors. Enjoy your meal!
