You probably know that alcohol can cause nausea, headache, dizziness, fatigue and pain. However, this is not the only impact it has on the body.
Let’s see what usually happens to those who frequently drink alcoholic beverages after two weeks of sobriety.
If you stop consuming alcohol…
1. You will lose weight
A glass of wine or beer may seem harmless, but it brings extra calories. Some research suggests that adults ingest as much as 100 calories per day with beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages. About 20 percent of men and 6 percent of women consume more than 300 calories per day drinking alcohol. Some fruit drinks and cocktails have between 200–700 calories and contain sugar and other additives.
2. You will have more energy and better concentration
Perhaps you feel that a glass of wine before bedtime helps you sleep, but in reality it is quite the opposite. Alcohol affect the depth of your sleep. Therefore, you wake up tired, exhausted and with poor concentration.
3. You will feel better and be emotionally stable
Alcohol is associated with depression because it changes the way the body copes with stress. Although we often reach for alcohol to relax ourselves, we develop stronger feelings of anxiety, depression and sadness. Alcohol only superficially and temporarily suppress those feelings. Without alcohol your body and mind are consciously dealing with feelings and emotions. You can, therefore, solve them effectively before they progress into a real problem.
4. Your skin will be more beautiful
Alcohol dehydrates the whole body and skin. Thus, your skin is dry, dull and pale. Furthermore, your liver is also suffering. If you give up alcohol, the liver will have the opportunity to perform its function and remove harmful substances from the blood. Your body will be able to absorb nutrients and your skin will be healthy again.
5. The bank account will look nicer
This does not affect your health directly. The money that you spend on bottles of liquor, can be used for more useful things that will make you happy.
